After all my blog and magazine reading the main tip I have come away with for a monochromatic color scheme is to add a lot of texture and a few pops of color. I decided it was time to give "texture" a try.
I started small, my throw pillows. I wanted something "fall-y". I have to tell you I was super uncomfortable picking this fabric, but I forced myself to do it.
Next, I forced my self to pick a couple of fabrics that went with it, and had TEXTURE. It is hard to tell from the picture, but there is brown and ivory mixed in there. Again, I was uncomfortable with my choices, but I made myself do it. I chose an ivory faux fur and a brown ruched that in the right light looks orange/bronze.
Here is the white guy on one of my new yard sale chairs that I LOVE. I love the "fur" with the leather.
The shot of the living room with the pillows (could have been fluffed and primped a little but o well ).
Now, just to find an affordable luscious rug and change the art above the couch!
Barn Furniture Blog has great some great tips for a monochromatic scheme.

thanks for offering monochromatic advice. i am usually a bold color lover, but for my master bedroom i have chosen to go taupe and brown so my husband can have a more masculine retreat from the rest of the house. I will definitely use the advice from the link you gave.
ReplyDeleteFawn, I love the fur with the leather as well! I also have decided on a color pattern... but mine is pink , white and cream. It is wonderful to finally figure iut our style isn't it.
