I need a CHAIR CUT

As I have previously mentioned in my kitchen/dining room there was WAY too much orangey wood. I painted the buffet, now it was time to move on to something else--the chairs.

I don't have a really great before picture, but you can tell the wood tone is BAD. What is hard to see is just how tall the backs were. In my dining nook it became pretty obtrusive and annoying.

Enter My Mom and Her Reciprocal Saw (sorry about the picture Mom, but I think it is funny)

There, I will put one of me too so it wont hurt as bad. Now we can both look ridiculous, and in case you are wondering she SHOULD NOT be using a saw with a long skirt.

We cut the top arch-thing off so there are now three instead of four. It is so much better.

A little paint and some new fabric and I now LOVE my chairs that at one time I couldn't stand.

and yes, that is a stain on the chair--we did this back in March and I have two kids--they didn't stand a chance.

I'm joining these fun parties. Come check them out.

  2. Love how that chair turned out! I had some too-tall chairs in my dining room that drove me crazy too... but I just sold the whole dining set on CL in protest. Ah well.
(and the punny-English-major inside of me LOVES your title--heehee!)

  5. It's a powerful feeling to hold that saw in your hand, huh? I would never have thought to cut the top off, but it sure made the difference. It is a tremendous makeover. I love how the chairs turned out!

  8. I'm visiting from Finding Fabulous. Those chairs are amazing. I looked at that first photo and said to myself, "That's looks like Longmont." Then I looked at your profile and saw you are from Colorado. Love your chairs!
