Finally A New Rug

I have wanted a new rug for my family room ever since I realized that burgandy, mustard, and olive weren't my true design identity. Also, I wanted one that was bigger.

You can see in the picture below. The rug was WAY too small for the space and the colors weren't doing it for me.


Ahhh, much better.


I found this rug on Walmart.com and used Site-To-Store. It only took 3 days to come in and only cost $70. That's right a 8.9ft x 12ft rug for $70. Now let me say this, it is a very thin rug, not very plush, but with a 2-year old, a 3-year old, and dog it is just what I needed. Easy to clean.

The following pictures are from FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY NIGHT where we get to have popcorn, drink, and movie in the family room. You will notice the rug is getting broken in right away.


Every Saturday morning, I feel like cancelling Friday Night Party Night, but they love it so much it is worth the mess.

  2. Hi Fawn - Thanks for stopping by my blog. Seeing your kids in their footy jamas is so cute, it reminds me when my two were playing just like yours are, mess and all. Thank goodness someone invented the vacuum. The larger, darker rug really does pull the room together. It looks great.

  5. Wow -- what a difference. It really grounds the room, and I love it! The price was certainly fair too. I also love the Friday night parties with popcorn...it can all be vacuumed though, right?

  6. I love your new rug, the color is perfect and what a great price. I'm sure that deep rich blue does make you cringe a little when party night spills over on to it, but those memories are worth the extra clean up!

  7. Oh, that mess...I feel your pain. I have two toddlers and they can make a mess in record time. The rug looks great and it's nice to have something that you and your family can actually use and live with.

  8. WHat a great deal! I've been looking for a BIG rug. I'm going to check out walmart.com now. I remember when I was little (when T.G.I.F. was on- Erkel and all) we would have Friday night Pizza night, where we could eat pizza and coke and popcorn in the LIVING ROOM!! =) BUT... my mom made us put one of her King size sheets down, and we had to stay on the sheet with the food. Good idea I guess. It was always so big that it wasn't ever a big deal to have to stay on the sheet.

  9. Great idea with the rug! I got one of those big pieces of bound carpet from Lowes for $88.00. It's sort of a nutmeg color and works PERFECT for dogs. I love the way your's looks in your room, and the kis are having so much fun!
